Why I Turn Waste Into Art

People often ask me why I spend my days sorting through what others have thrown away. The answer is simple: I see myself in every discarded thing. A bottle that once held something precious, now empty. A piece of wood that built something, now splintered. None of it is useless — it is just waiting to be seen differently.

When I take a pile of broken glass and old metal and turn it into a sculpture, I am doing more than making art. I am proving that transformation is real. That what was discarded can become beautiful. That what was broken can become whole in a new way. This is the heart of everything I do at A Space of Restoration.

If waste can become art, then maybe the parts of ourselves we have thrown away — our dreams, our softness, our hope — can become something too. That is the lesson the studio keeps teaching me, every single day.
